Ergosterol supplementation improves furfural tolerance of Saccharomyces cerevisiae to produce ethanol and its underlying mechanism

نویسندگان

چکیده

Furfural produced during lignocellulose pretreatment to reduce the recalcitrance inhibits growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and reduces ethanol yield. To adverse effect furfural on S. cerevisiae, exogenous ergosterol was supplemented impact under stress studied. The lag phage shortened by 50%, maximum yield increased 158% with 50 mg/L supplementation 4 g/L stress. Flow cytometry analysis results showed that permeable cells intracellular reactive oxygen species were decreased 45 53%, respectively addition fatty acid composition changed; glycerol content after supplementation. saturation increased. Addition promoted cell decreasing oxidative Under stress, BY4741 (erg3?) (erg5?) longer than BY4741, concentration decreased.

Involvement of ergosterol in tolerance to vanillin, a potential inhibitor of bioethanol fermentation, in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

A vanillin-tolerant strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae was screened and its intracellular ergosterol levels were compared with several laboratory yeast strains to study the potential relationship between ergosterol content and vanillin tolerance. Saccharomyces cerevisiae NBRC1950 was selected as a vanillin-tolerant strain. Its ergosterol content was higher than those of the laboratory strains. ...

Active yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) supplementation improves digestibility of lamb diet1

The aim of the study was to evaluate the supplementation of active yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on diets of lambs fed with two different concentrate proportion on DM intake, apparent digestibility of nutrients, in vitro digestibility of dry matter and rumen fermentation parameters. Twenty non-castrated male lambs, averaging 120 days-old, housed in metabolism cages, with collector and separa...

Hybridization Improves Inhibitor Tolerance of Xylose- fermenting Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Although some engineered S. cerevisiae strains exhibit good xylose utilization ability, the lack of tolerance to inhibitors generated in biomass pretreatment limits the application of such strains in the production of bioethanol from lignocellulosic biomass. By applying a sexual mating method, inhibitor tolerance was developed in xylose-utilizing strains. The final ethanol concentrations in sim...

The Mechanism of Chromium Biosorption by Saccharomyces Cerevisiae

The Biosorption property of S. cerevisiae for chromium uptake was investigated in an immobilized cell bioreactor. Saw dust was utilized as the solid bed in the reactor. Adsorption of S. cerevisiae on saw dust obeys a first order reaction kinetic up to 6 hours. The immobilized biomass particles are porous and exist in the new generation of biological adsorbent. Chromium biosorption was studied i...
